Tennis and other Rocket sports

Lawn Tennis is the most popular and widely played of the racket sports- those in which rackets are used to strike balls of various shapes and sizes across a net or against a wall. Other racket sports are: squash, played in a walled court; badminton, played across a high net; and table tennis, played on still played in a few places, and the relatively new sport of racquetball is popular in some parts of the United States.
In tennis, players hit a ball over a net into the opponent’s court so that it cannot be returned. When they win a point they score 15, then 30,40, and game. A player with six games two ahead of the opponent wins a set. Tennis is played as singles with two opponents, or doubles, with opposing pairs.
White or yellow, tennis balls are 6.5 cm (2.5 in) across. They weight about 57g (2 oz) and must conform to a specific standard. In major tournaments, the balls are changed every nine games.
The frame of a racket is made of wood, metal, or other material, such as carbon graphite, and must be evenly strung. The racket must be no longer than 81.3 cm (32 in) or wider than 31.75 cm (12.5 in).
Real, or royal, tennis was played by French and English royalty in the Middle Ages. The few courts around the world are bounded by open windows and doors and sloping roofs.
Mainly a singles games, squash is played in an enclosed court with four walls. The players use the same floor space. The object is to hit the ball against one or more walls, provided one is the front wall, so that the opponent cannot return it before it has bounced twice on the floor.
Squash is played with a small hollow ball which becomes more bouncy as the air inside gets warm and expands. The ball must land below the out-of-court line marked all around the court, and must not hit the board at the base of the front wall.
